広場中央の円柱はイサク聖堂を建設した建築家によって建てられ、上には戦争の勝利者であるアレクサンドル1世をモデルにした、十字架を持つ天使の像が掲げられている。また、円柱自体は一枚岩の花崗岩で出来ているのだとか…。(地球の歩き方)
This pole is built by the same sculptor of St. Isaac Cathedral, and on its top there is a statue of angel holding a cross, which represents the hero of the war Alexander I.

エルミタージュ美術館で利用可能なオーディオガイド器。ロシア語は250ルーブル(750円)、英・独・仏・伊・西・韓は350ルーブル(1050円)で利用できる模様。日本語は無し。
